Internal training app for restaurant teams

We built an app to train the team in a structured way, centralising content and improving internal training.

01
The Challenge

Reducing the impact of staff turnover and inconsistent training.

In hospitality, training often depends on who is teaching, how much time there is and how the day is going on the floor. That creates inconsistency, lost knowledge and a slower learning curve for new staff.

  • The same manual process repeated with every new starter.
  • Results varied depending on who ran the training and in what operational context.
  • Hard to track, validate and prove that training had been completed properly.

What's more, many businesses have no clear way to prove training has been completed properly, something that is a legal requirement in certain cases.

02
Our Strategy

Turning training into a structured, repeatable system.

We designed a modular, progressive and verifiable training experience. We organised the content into clear blocks, combining theory, visual material and assessment. The aim was to remove the reliance on informal training and build a system that guarantees every employee gets the same grounding.

  • A modular structure that orders the learning logically.
  • Progressive unlocking to guide progress step by step.
  • Quizzes and individual tracking to ensure consistency without operational friction.

Every module includes a compulsory assessment. To move on, the employee must complete and pass the corresponding quiz, making sure the knowledge is not just consumed but understood and retained.

03
The Solution

A training app designed for real, everyday use.

We built a PWA web app accessible from any device, with mobile use front of mind.

  • Sequential modules that guide the learning clearly.
  • Multimedia content and interactive exercises to improve retention.
  • A built-in assessment system to validate each employee's progress.
  • Employees move at their own pace, while the business keeps full oversight of the progress, results and status of every team member.
  • Interactive module with the restaurant floor plans
  • One of the most comprehensive modules covers the restaurant floor plans, designed to get the team familiar with the real workspace faster.
  • It includes interactive plans for each dining room, where employees can practise in three different modes:
  • Learn
  • A view of the plan showing table numbers and covers per table.
  • Which table is it?
  • The plan is shown without numbers and a table is picked at random. The employee has to identify its number correctly.
  • Points to the table
  • A table number is given (table 27, for example). The employee first picks the right dining room, then finds the table on the plan.
  • This lets staff practise hands-on and repeatedly before moving on to the module's final quiz.
  • Automatic training certification
  • Once an employee completes every module and passes the final exam, the system automatically issues a training certificate.
  • Este certificado:
  • Sent to the employee
  • Sent to the restaurant
  • Details course content and hours completed*

* This gives the business formal proof of the training delivered, useful for regulatory compliance and possible labour inspections, where staff training must be evidenced.
